Welcome ASTR 1040 students. Resources from our second set of observing
nights will be available here following each observatory night. I
will also post a brief observing report, mentioning some of
the objects we managed to see. For the initial set of observing
nights, I will post ccd images of the various objects you viewed so that
you may include these in your writeups.
As a general resource, I've listed some possibly interesting colloquia
in different departments at the bottom of the list.
NASA hosts the Astronomy Picture of the Day site
(NASA APOD)
which regularly features interesting astronomical images and
competent writen descriptions by experts in many fields. Many
of the images in the observing reports will come from their
extensive archives, and they are a good initial resource for
exploring astrophysical phenomena.
